<<IMPORTANT>>
A legal guardian will need to read & sign the liability waiver
on behalf of any person 10-17 years old You can find the release document here. We prefer that the guardian come to Umigo to electronically sign the liability form.
The guardian can do this anytime before the race day of the minor
If you choose to download this form in lieu of signing the form electronically at the track, then we will also need a copy of the guardian's government issued ID (eg. drivers license) to confirm the guardian's identity.
It is OK to black out any drivers license numbers to ensure privacy.
These items may be faxed to us at 925-960-0481, or brought to the track.

Umigo Karting is serious racing. To ensure the safety of all participants, anyone that does not understand this concept will not be allowed to participate. All individuals 10 to 15 years old that meet our size and height requirements must be certified to participate in regular racing and practice laps. Our Youth Certification Driving Class is a great way to be certified and to get a lot of practice on the track! Umigo staff will teach the basics of racing, safety rules of racing and the responsibilities therein. During this class, the participant will experience around 60-80 minutes of seat time in the kart. This ensures the confidence levels required in open racing. The course partcipants will be taught how to drive the Umigo karts and will be observed for kart control and safety awareness. Afterwhich, the participants who pass this certification will gain their Umigo membership and will be allowed to join the members in track activity.
Certification Classes will consist of the following topics:
What kart racing is and what it is not (safety and the reality of racing)
How to operate the kart and how it works
How to drive the kart in a crowd and what to watch for
How to drive fast
On-track follow the leader learning the line of the track
Solo (controlled speed) track time for visual readiness assessment
Solo qualifying: safely achieving a cut off lap time = Jr driver license issuance
Passing can include two levels:
Junior Racer: Pass the course and is safe to drive from the hours of 11am to 6pm.
If Junior Racer reserves and fills an entire heat, he or she may race anytime.
Adult Racer: Pass the course & safely maintains a competitive lap time while in solid control of the kart.
Control means virtually no bumping into the walls or other karts, strong listening skills
& strong awareness of other drivers & Umigo Staff instructions.
For this level of passing there will be no restrictions on racing by time of day.
Birthday Parties & Other Celebrations
Umigo is a happening place for a celebration.
Physics of Go Karting

Umigo is intrigued by the concept of learning while having fun.
By combining the valuable lessons of science with an activity that kids will be eager to try,
Umigo is working with local science experts to develop a syllabus that kids will not forget.
What a concept. See coverage of this kind of event here:
